Bald Howe is a 2 storey detached Grade II Listed property (circa late C18 early C19) sited on the outskirts of Matterdale. The single storey barn structure forms part of the estates less significant outbuildings, and was formerly used as an agricultural barn and an animal shed. In a general state of disrepair, the property had not been maintained for many years, but had real potential and outstanding views to the open countryside beyond.
The Clients brief was to provide a two storey Physiotherapy Unit from which the Client is to run her business. Being in the Lake District National Park, all external works are to be kept to a minimum, and any repairs undertaken are to be sympathetic to the existing structure to ensure the barn has a positive effect on its surroundings and setting.
A Historic Significance Statement, Design & Access Statement and a Bat Survey were all undertaken as part of the commission, and Listed Building consent, Planning permission and Building Regulations approval were obtained on behalf of the Client.
Work is due to commence on site in mid to late 2013.
